Mary Lea Trump’s Early Life and Education

Mary Lea Trump was born on 3rd May 1965 to Linda Lee Clapp, and Fred Trump Jr. Linda was a flight attendant while Fred Trump Jr. was a commercial airline pilot of Trans World Airlines. Fred Trump Jr.’s older brother is Fredrick Trump III, and they were sons of Fred Trump, the father of Donald Trump. She is the eldest grandchild of Mary Trump and Fred’s five children.

Fred Trump Jr. passed away on 29th September 1981 from a heart attack. At the time of his death, Mary was only 16 years old. According to her memoirs, Mary was watching a film in the school’s auditorium when her teacher pulled her aside and advised her to make a call home. After making several phone calls, Mary found out that her father had died. However, despite numerous requests, she couldn’t see her father’s body. The only way she could say goodbye to her father was at the funeral. The death of Fred Jr left the family scarred, including the younger brother, Donald Trump (former U.S. president). Fred Sr. hoped that Fred Jr. would succeed him in the family business and guarantee its continuation. However, Fred Jr. was adamant that he wanted to become a pilot. The family did not wish Fred Jr. to become an airline pilot, thus creating severe tensions in the family.

In 1983, Mary L Trump graduated from Ethel Walker School. Mary studied English Literature at Tufts University, and she later earned her Master’s degree in English Literature at Columbia University. While pursuing her Master’s degree at Columbia University, Mary studied the works of William Faulkner. It is essential to note that Mary L Trump also holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. He studied at the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University.

Mary L. Trump’s Career

While doing her Ph.D. studies, Mary L Trump worked at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center for a whole year. While conducting her Ph.D. studies, she contributed to the book Diagnosis: Schizophrenia. The book was published in 2001 by Columbia University Press.

Mary has taught graduate courses in several fields, including psychopathology, psychology, and trauma. To help small businesses grow, Mary founded The Trump Coaching Group. The company offers life coaching services, and currently, it owns and operates numerous small businesses in the Northeast region.

This is the first book Mary L Trump Published. Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man was published on 14th July 2020 by Simon and Schuster. The book is an unauthorized biography of former United States President, Donald Trump.

According to Mary Trump’s note at the beginning, she acknowledges that all accounts come from recorded conversations with friends, family, and others or her own memory. This means that most of the accounts are verified because they happened, although very few people know about them. According to Mary, other book sources are:

Mary’s book gives a detailed account of how Mary Trump was the anonymous source who handed over Trump’s family tax returns to The New York Times. It is vital to note that The New York Times won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for its exceptional investigative work that year. Trying to put a stop to the book from being published and released, Mary’s uncle Robert Trump attempted to block its release. He argued that Mary Trump signed a non-disclosure agreement in the 2001 lawsuit settlement. However, a New York court dismissed the claims due to the lack of jurisdiction, and hence the book was published on 14th July 2020. After its release, the book sold nearly a million copies on the first day! It was an instant success.

The Reckoning: Our Nation’s Trauma and Finding a Way to Heal was the second Mary L Trumps book. It was published on 17th August 2021 by St. Martin’s Press. Mary Trump drew her inspiration from American History, where she argued that the U.S. had suffered its trauma from the start due to its inclusion of systemic racism. Mary Trump also posits that the failure to address white supremacy has worsened the problem, especially in recent years, by the Republicans.

The Mary Trump Show

With advanced technology and the fact that the internet is the next big thing, Mary Trump started a podcast. The Mary Trump Show is the podcast’s title, and she discusses politics, among other issues that affect society at large. On 1st February 2022, Mary announced to her fans that she contemplated removing her show from Spotify. This is after The Joe Rogan Experience started spreading lies about COVID-19 and Spotify distributed the misinterpretation.

Efforts in 2021 and 2022

Mary Trump has been actively involved herself with politics lately. For instance, she supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential elections. On 15th July 2020, Mary Trump said that Donald Trump should resign as the president. According to Mary Trump, Donald Trump was incapable and dangerous at leading the country. In a later show with Stephen Colbert on a late-night show, Mary stated that Donald Trump displays sociopathic tendencies. With that in mind, Mary described how Donald Trump was insulated from responsibilities since he was a child. She further said that Donald was never held accountable for any of his actions. Ergo, Donald cannot perform his duties well as the president of the United States. Mary is trying to give her opinion and idea on how politics have changed and how the Americans can save their country. After the Capitol attack 2021, Mary Trump said Donald Trump should not run for office ever again because he could not control and advise his supporters on the best way forward.

It is evident that Mary is very vocal politically, and she aims to stop at nothing until she realizes positive changes in the country. Mary is openly gay, and she is divorced. She lives on Long Island, New York, with her daughter, who she conceived via in-vitro fertilization.
